Advanced Apprenticeship in Aeronautical Engineering

ABOUT PANASONIC AVIONICS

Panasonic Avionics Corporation is an industry-leading supplier for delivering award-winning in-flight products such as movies, interactive gaming, satellite connectivity, live TV and bluetooth headphone connectivity. In-flight entertainment and connectivity systems represent a substantial long-term investment. The return on that investment is realized in the airline customer’s delight and continued loyalty. As a PTS (Panasonic Technical Services) Aircraft Maintenance Technician, you will help to make this happen for our customers once you qualify from the Apprenticeship Programme.

We are reinventing the flying experience with 40 years of industry-leading innovations, and we don’t plan on stopping.

Panasonic Technical Services (PTS) personnel operating globally lead the way in advanced in-flight entertainment systems, software/media loading, and the timely replacement of components. PTS holds multiple regulatory authority approvals that allow us to work as an aircraft maintenance organisation maintaining customer aircraft. Each year PTS supports over 400,000 service events on more than 3,000 aircraft.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The 3-year apprenticeship programme will lead you to gain a CAA aircraft maintenance engineer “A” license and open a world of opportunities. This carefully tailored programme is going to provide you with the extensive experience you will need, developing highly skilled, complex and specialist knowledge in maintaining aircraft systems according to Standard Operating Procedures.

This is an exciting opportunity which we want you to absolutely enjoy as you develop your skills and knowledge throughout this programme. You will meet a lot of people just like you going through exactly the same journey with plenty of organized activities for you to mingle and make friendships. It is an opportunity that will shape your future and help your passion grow in every way.

During the first year, you will be based away from home in Kemble, at our partner training school. We will provide financial support for accommodation at the Cotswold's Water Park.

The first year of the apprenticeship will consist of study and application of on-site classroom and workshop-based learning. You will need to be focused, self-disciplined and invested in this training programme.

You will also gain work experience at Panasonic Gatwick/Heathrow Line Maintenance operation for short periods to obtain additional training/familiarisation as term times allow.

Following on from year one you will continue with work experience at one of our partner airlines or MRO for up to two years where you will be able to apply the knowledge you have gained into practice under the direct guidance of a mentor. You will be exposed to naturally occurring maintenance events within a fully operational aircraft maintenance facility. This will consist of engine, airframe, and cabin maintenance.

During this period, you will complete a personal development logbook as a record of tasks completed that will be sent to the regulator as part of your assessment on suitability to hold an “A” license.

Depending on business needs there may be an opportunity to continue training towards a “B” license.

As some of the work experience in year 2 & 3 will be carried out at our partner airline’s facility you will be expected to provide your own transport to the selected location for this element of training. Assistance will be provided with travel and accommodation expenses as and when required on a case-by-case basis.
