Advanced Apprenticeship in Aeronautical Engineering

With over 300 aircraft and 90 million+ passengers a year, it takes a hardworking and passionate engineering team to keep our aircraft in the air whilst ensuring our customers travel in comfort and complete safety. That’s where you’ll step in as one of our new Apprentice Aeronautical Engineers.

You’ll join a fully funded two year programme that will see you first picking up the skills and qualifications you’ll need to get going before building up the practical experience to become a fully qualified (and employed) Aeronautical Engineer. Its broken into two phases:

Phase 1: You’ll complete a CAT A1 training course here with us at our Luton training academy over a 9 month period. During this time we’ll pay for your accommodation with the rest of your apprentice cohort at the University of Bedfordshire student halls, along with your breakfast and dinner.

Phase 2: Between months 10 and 24 you’ll continue your learning by working full time at Luton or Gatwick, and building the evidence and practical knowledge to secure your UKCAA and EASA Part-66 Category A1 modules - and pass the end point assessment that will allow you to be a licenced engineer.

Working within engineering can be challenging and there are plenty of technical problems to solve, but with the backing of our experienced team (many of whom who also began their career as apprentices), and with the best tools and technology at your disposal, you’ll revel in what is a exciting and rewarding career that will equip you with an abundance of useful skills.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have the right to work and live in the UK

  • You must have been fully resident in the UK, the British Overseas Territories, or Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for the last 3 years

  • GCSE 4-9/A-C or equivalent in English and Maths

What do I need to join the Programme?

First and foremost you’ll need a passion for aviation and an interest in pursuing and engineering career. Whilst any experience in mechanical or electrical equipment would be beneficial, what’s more important is that you’re good with your hands and have the dexterity needed to become an engineer. You’ll be working with a wide range of colleagues (we have one of the largest engineering teams in the airline industry) so you’ll need good interpersonal skills and be happy working as part of a team.

You’ll relish working in a high pace, high energy environment, and have a genuine desire to learn and grow.

Lastly you must hold a valid passport to be able to travel unrestricted across our network when needed, and successfully pass a CRB check as you’ll be working airside.

What you’ll get in return

>Earn while you learn

>Training, accreditations and licencing that are fully funded

>Paid for accommodation at the University of Bedfordshire for the first 9 months along with breakfast and dinner

>Up to 20% bonus

>25 days holiday (you can buy up to an additional 5 days each year too)

>5% pension

>Flexible working environment

>Flexible benefits package

>Excellent staff travel benefits including discounts on flights and on easyJet Holidays
