Resource Group Senior Payroll Manager
We are currently hiring an experienced Senior Payroll Manager to join our Corporate Services team in Hartlebury, UK on a fixed-term basis until 30 April 2026 to provide adoption leave cover. This key role will oversee the exiting team of six payroll administrators and seniors delivering services to multiple international clients. The role will also help lead the development of our payroll systems for our resourcing and recruitment Aviation businesses in the UK, Germany, Spain, and Channel Islands. This position will report directly to the Groups Chief Finance Officer.
The Senior Payroll Manager will work as part of the Corporate Services senior management team, leading the delivery of timely and accurate weekly and monthly payrolls for our international engineering and airline customers. They will also be responsible for helping to develop and implement a new payroll solution that will harnessing the latest developments and features in the market to better service our customers outside of Switzerland.
Main Responsibilities:
In addition to performing such other duties as may reasonably be required; they will also perform the key tasks below:
Ensure weekly and monthly payrolls that are allocated by the CFO are completed and to acceptable standards with a high level of accuracy and to agreed timescales by the payroll team
Prepare monthly tax and social security returns for all relevant countries.
Prepare reports required by the other managers such as Commercial Managers and Management Accountants, including a quarterly summary report on payroll activity and issues.
Prepare the End of Year returns including P60’s and P11D’s or relevant international equivalent
To undertake training on payroll systems and legislation, as deemed necessary, to execute the role efficiently and ensure any staff training is identified and completed.
Manage the Payroll team to deliver against business requirements in the most effective and efficient manner including cross-training staff for holiday and sickness cover.
Develop and support team members in improving their knowledge, diligence, technical skills, and qualifications.
To support and lead elements of the implementation of new payroll systems, as required. This will include advancing knowledge and technical expertise to improve the existing/new payroll processes and features.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 5 GCSEs Grades A to C including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent
Management Training (preferred)
Formal Payroll Qualification (preferred)
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Good verbal and written communication skills in English (and ideally an additional European language)
Experience of managing complex payrolls and supervising staff.
Ability to manage conflicting workloads, priorities and multitask.
Working in a busy environment.
Writing business communications such as e-mails, and letters.
Ability to think laterally and solve problems.
Good knowledge of a payroll package
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Deliver a high level of customer service
Conditions:
Fixed-Term contract with the potential for some Hybrid working post probation.
